About Us

Shout-It-Now was founded in 2007 by a group of IT and marketing experts from the U.S. and social scientists from South Africa that wanted to contribute to addressing the issues youth like HIV and AIDS. An unlikely combination, perhaps, but together we've developed an education-based solution that takes the very best from social science and technology.

Many of the founders have substantial experience in starting new companies. Each member has volunteered time, money or expertise to create Shout-It-Now. We are dedicated to creating effective partnerships with schools, businesses, celebrities and, most importantly, with our teen audience.

While we are a secular non-profit organisation our approach is very similar to running a profit- driven business. Specifically, we establish plans and critically measure our success and failure against those plans. Shout-It-Now takes a pragmatic approach to solving problems. We're to-the-point, non-bureaucratic, efficient and goal-oriented.

Our Board

Silicon Valley veteran, Bruce Forgrieve, is the founder behind Shout-It-Now. Bruce's leadership resulted in the founding of multiple start-up technology companies, including two publicly-held firms.

Over the last decade he served as CFO and VP of Business Development at companies such as Broadvision and Eloquent, and most recently as CEO of Playback Media and Spotlight Technology.

Dr. Kathryn Pahl is well known in the South African social development sector. Her career has included heading the social development department at Valkenberg Psychiatric hospital in Cape Town, CEO of Epilepsy South Africa, and most recently, as a researcher within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cape Town, focussing on HIV and AIDS programmes in South African schools.

She consults to a number of national nonprofits, in areas of management and governance.
